Yoga and adventure
in West Bengal, India, 15-29th
November 2010
We will be
staying at Karmi Farm, a family run eco project Northwest of Darjeeling
on the borders of
west Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal.
The traditional dairy farm has been converted into a small cosy hotel with terraces
which overlook the valley to west Sikkim, rooms are rustically decorated and
there are log fires for cooler evenings. Food is freshly picked organic produce
from
the surrounding
land and meals will be traditional Nepalese,Sikkimese or Indian.
This project supports local families by provding them with work, sourcing
supplies locally and not allowing more than 12 tourists at a time on treks.
Yoga will be practised outside on the terrace surrounded by clear un polluted
air,
or when weather is cooler, in the meditation hall in the family monastery.
There will be many opportunities to meet the Lamas who live at the monastery
as well as meeting and learning about the indigenous hill tribes.
We will be trekking to the Himalayan Foothills over 3 days with experienced
guides.
We will then have 5 days to practice yoga and explore the surrounding
countryside or simply relax and be!!
Cost includes all meals, accommodation and transport from Bogdhara airport,
trekking costs and hotel in Darjeeling.
Flights into Calcutta
from all major airports are pretty frequent and
reasonable if you book now, I am using an Indian travel agent recommended
by Karmi farm who will arrange flights all the way to Bogdhara and if you
wish to travel on.
Cost £850
A non returnable deposit of £175 is required to secure your place, and
as
numbers are limited to 10 people it's a good idea to book early.
Please note that this is a yoga adventure and not a luxury retreat. We will
learn so much about our practice both on and off the mat, but it is a
prerequisite to come with a flexible mind and open heart!
Not included :
Flights or travel to Calcutta and Bagdogara.
Appropriate travel insurance. Tips.
Entry and camera fees in National Parks.
